Who are the teams to beat ?
Curious George

Controversial early favorite is Keller/Valenti, who are now a combined 4 signed up as a combined 5 before the Kalkman/Kalkman dropout sent shockwaves through the levels and moved Valenti from 3 to 2.

Very formidable team , but do they have the big game experience? My favorite is Odenbach/Newell

What are some other entries in this year's draw? Gotta get my bets in while the odds are good!

"Controversial early favorite is Keller/Valenti"

Why are they controversial if they are currently a combined 4? Can't we do better than that with controversial??? Let's have some fun here!
interested....

I hear there are to teams of Rosellis. Don't know who the other two are but both level 1's are tourney champs with big game experience.

Multiple sources are telling me there are 2 teams of Kotaliks also, as well as some Odenbachs. Multiple GMs told me that Danny Gianniny only went to college to skew his league level higher in order to play with a level 1. I am also hearing that the Merkel/Hawkins clan will be occupying every bit of seating if any of them are still playing.

The Odenbach Newell team is the travesty. I propose all teams that play those cheaters forfiet in protest so they are only PAPER CHAMPIONS. FTD's. I actually really like both of them but COME ON MAN!!!!

Wannabes makes a great point. No final means more beer and the best leftover chilli in town at 4.

Beer and chili at 4? I don't think I've ever played after 1pm in my CCR tourney career, our goal is to finish all the beer before the final is over. That consolation reprieve plate looks pretty good though!

The CCR tournament is by far the most fun, for a number of reasons! Best reason - all the smack that is talked at the bar, on the phone and in this forum.
Keep it up boys - who's a cheater, who's crying, who's not & why!

You'all remember me - I hate construction noises, cel phones and bad outfits when i'm play'in!

Even more - I love some closet level 3s that are playing at level 8!!!! They're good for all these tournaments!

He is so wrapped up with his bachelor party the day after the tourney his mind is mush. That being said, the time to beat Pike is first match of the day.

Be careful this weekend everyone! When you're standing 5 feet from each other blasting the ball at 80mph, it can do some damage. I don't want you to get all bloody!

I so wish I had seen the prior post before the tournament, very funny. Although I did not get bloody, I was absolutely pasted from 5 feet away at 80mhp repeatedly.

One person with no control - other person with total control; I appreciated the opponent with control hit me squarely in the paddle each time.

Thank you.

I feel like this comes up every once in a while. I don't mind if someone hits me in the chest or below, because it's probably a shot that's going in. But there are few guys around who consistently bring the high heat at the net player even when receiving a hard serve that should probably should be lobbed. Not only is it a bad shot that is going out, it's risking some serious eye injuries.
Careful out there everyone.

While i'm probably the most aggressive net player in town (paddle IS on my side of the net) - i'm not worried about getting hit, but there are some party fouls out there:

1. If you a good player and you hit me high, you did it on purpose and we all know it; prick move.

2. If you hit the ball high and your not looking at the court, also a prick move.

3. If you are not a top player and you go high, say you're sorry, work on not doing that anymore.

4. If you are a player that just swings hard/high again and again - figure it out. You suck, you're a prick and you're dangerous. Secondly, you cannot win points, so again - figure it out.

Net folks - learn to protect the net. If you want to be in there, then be IN THERE TIGHT and you take your lumps..... If you're afraid of getting hit, are not seeing the ball great anymore or are just not a good volleyer, then walk to the baseline and give the net away; you're a liability.
