Ringer Subs

Here we go again. Now that it is coming to the end of a session you see several bottom teams (especially those that have one win together) getting ringer subs to boost their record to ensure they don't go down. This is mostly prevalent when they are playing another bottom team that doesn't have a win together. Technically there is nothing illegal about this other than poor sportsmanship. Shouldn't the worse teams go down and the best teams advance? Shouldn't you stay because you deserve to not because you gamed the system. Not sure what can be done about this other than the ringers refusing to be part of the shananagans.

This in Men's or Women's league? I believe the Women have rules in place that you have to play a certain number of matches with your partner.

Seems to me - that if you are in the catagory of....."playing another bottom team that doesn't have a win together" which are your words, not mine.....then going down is a good thing. So who really cares? Staying up a level that one obviously doesn't belong in is no fun for anyone.....it's no fun to lose time and time again, and honestly it's no fun to win, time and time again.

We have debated this issue for years. The simple answer is you don't get points for winning if you don't play with your partner - if you have attendance issues sign up as a threesome or do a make up. The we dont care who gets a sub - they don't get points and you get the win.

I usually send threatening voicemails and texts to teams using ringer subs...

I personally don't like it when a sub is brought in.

I don't know how the boys league works, I don't really care for that matter. But our group just doesn't play if there is a sub. It's not fair, these girls think they are playing tennis out there and just hit the ball too hard. Going up is all that matters to those of us that know how to play really well.

Penelope - do you have a partner for the upcoming mixed tournament. I think our personalities would really do well together on the court. E-mail me and let's set up a practice match!

I've always struggled to find partners, I can be harsh. What's your email, I've searched for "Pedro" and cannot find you email address in the Rochester Paddle directory.
